Due to their sturdy fiberglass construction, San Juan fiberglass pools never need to be resurfaced. By contrast, a typical concrete pool will require periodic resurfacing, meaning extra outlays of cash for many years to come. The bottom line is that while a San Juan fiberglass pool may cost more up front than a vinyl or cement pool, homeowners will more than make up the difference in savings over the life of the pool.

The smooth fiberglass surface of all San Juan pools makes them easier and less expensive to maintain than concrete. The gel-coat surface of a San Juan pool is a NPG/ISO (neopentyl glycol-isophthalic acid) based polyester resin mixed with colored pigments. This gel-coat is chemically bonded to the fiberglass shell and as such is an integral part of the pool. The 30-32 mil gel-coat finish is nonporous, chemically inert, and extremely resistant to acids and oxidizers. Algae cannot penetrate the finish, and any stains which may form on the gel-coat can be removed by adding a stain remover to the pool water.
